Blue Collar Camps is looking for an experienced Field Superintendent to work on upcoming projects throughout Western Canada. Blue Collar installs and demobilizes temporary and permanent structures, including remote camps, offices, field units, multi-unit housing and modular schools.
The Field Superintendent is responsible for leading the project on site as a client liaison, creating and monitoring project momentum, scheduling, quality control, safety, and the delegation of work to site team and sub-contractors. This position will include travel.

Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- SITE MANAGEMENT: Oversee and document all job site activities; manage and monitor all work performance. Act as a client liaison and demonstrate leadership to site team, trades and subcontractors.
- SAFETY: Provide safety leadership through the implementation of Blue Collar’s Safety Program and monitor safety performance of site team and sub-contractors. Ensure that safety equipment, PPE and working conditions are strictly adhered to and inspected per policy and all governing regulatory agencies; any corrections completed in a timely manner.
- CONSTRUCTABILITY: Review construction documents constantly for constructability and design coordination. Prepare and maintain construction schedules.
- BUDGETS: Assist in monitoring costs for various budget items; contribute to cost saving measures and best practices.
- QUALITY: Ensure quality meets expectations through timely QC inspections and monitor workmanship of site team and subcontractors.
- Chair and manage tailgate and status meetings and inspections
- Liaise with Consultants for project inspections; attend all inspections
- Work very closely with the Project Manager in all aspects of the project

- Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory role on construction projects.
- Solid communication skills to work well with clients, site personnel and subtrades.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to complete required daily paperwork and assessments.
- Demonstrated Health & Safety knowledge and due diligence, familiarity with COR™ requirements an asset.
- Strong competence in the areas of people management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration
- Experience in managing multiple trades in busy work environments.
- Hands-on construction experience and supervision.
- Experience with modular structures would be an asset
- Post-secondary education in construction or equivalent practical experience as noted above.
- Gold Seal or Red Seal carpenter (journeyman) accreditation an asset
- Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications
- Proactive problem-solver that can manage difficult situations with positive results
- Good computer skills and intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
- Ability to effectively speak and read English
- Valid Working at Heights, Aerial Work Platforms, Supervisory Training, Forklift and First Aid certificates are preferred.
